Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is an undercover agent working for IMF (Impossible Missions Force) headed by Jim Phelps (Jon Voight). His team works on a mission in Prague to stop a mole from transfering information on all undercover agents in the region to an enemy. Something goes wrong and suddenly everyone except Ethan is dead. Ethan escapes the city and comes across Kittridge (Henry Czerny) who explains that the mission was fake and was targeted to discover the mole. Since Ethan is the only survivor, he is the prime suspect. The only chance Ethan has to prove himself innocent is to discover the identity of the real mole. He begins discussions with the enemy Max (Vanessa Redgrave) and discovers shocking truths as he moves along this new mission.
